Meet the Illustrator

Tharushi Fernando, the illustrator of Alphabet Gumbo, is a Sri Lankan undergraduate student studying Fashion Design at the University of Moratuwa. Her love for fashion design is a motivational force in her love for art and illustrations.

Alphabet Gumbo is one of her favorite books that she had the opportunity to illustrate. She loves creating illustrations of children and animals. Her work aims to include diverse characters that are reflective of her readers.

She believes that her pictures encourage the reader to imagine themselves in a positive way in this book and other illustrations.
